How to get everything done before Christmas and have Happy Holidays this year

How do I get everything done before Christmas?

Have you been wondering how to get everything done before Christmas so you can have a good break?

We refer to this time of year as ‘happy holidays.’ I am sometimes sorely tempted to say ‘bah—humbug’ when I see everyone rushing around in a frenzy. But how do we get everything done before Christmas?Finish before Christmas

People are less patient in queues…I’ve been nearly side swiped several times by people cutting in to traffic. Their haste to get somewhere is making them dangerous on the road. The stress of last-minute shopping is compounded by Christmas preparations. Finish before Christmas

On top of all that, we insist on catching up with everyone we haven’t seen for months before the end of the year.

Slow down! There are various practical ways to get everything done before Christmas.

Contact people and tell them you will catch up in the new year – that way at least you have made contact. Finish before Christmas

Minimise gift giving by giving everyone similar gifts. For example, a bottle of wine, movie tickets or gifts that keep on giving (ie Oxfam for people in Third World Countries).

Forget about getting the  house in perfect order. Visitors are coming to see you, not your house. They don’t care about the odd cobweb (in fact they probably won’t even see it).

Replace traditional European meals designed for Winter with simple salads and sliced meats that take no time to prepare.  Don’t overheat the house and you!

Give yourself time to relax and enjoy ‘happy holidays.’
